
Kayak Launch Hand-Carry Ramp
History and Background
Located beneath the Route 123 bridge at 111 Mill Street, the Town’s new Kayak Launch Ramp was largely funded through a grant the Town sought in 2010 from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. It is believed to be the only free, 24/7 public access ramp on the Occoquan River suitable for people with ambulatory disabilities.
Location: 111 Mill Street, accessed from the parking lot under the Route 123 Bridge
Cost: Free; open to the public
Hours of Operation: Dawn – Dusk
Parking: Free parking available for 8 hour and 4 hour durations
Access: Hand-carry watercraft only; no motorized or trailer access
Suitable for people with ambulatory disabilities
Temporary Storage: A vertical storage rack is available for temporary storage of kayaks, canoes, and SUPs while shopping, dining, or visiting in town. No overnight storage. The Town is not responsible for lost or damaged property.
Rentals: Rental kayaks and SUPs are available through private business Penguin Paddling
