Building Permits – Prince William County
Prince William County administers the building official program within the Town of Occoquan. All plan reviews, building and trade permits and other building official services are issued by Prince William County at 5 County Complex Court, Prince William, VA 22192. No permits will be issued or plans reviewed by the County until zoning approval is issued by the Town of Occoquan; please contact Town Hall prior to requesting permits from the County.

Zoning Reviews and Modifications – Town of Occoquan
A zoning approval is required before starting a use; erecting a structure or building; or obtaining building, trade permits, and certificates of occupancy from Prince William County.
Residents may also use the Zoning Review Application to apply for administrative modifications. The Zoning Administrator can grant a modification of any zoning regulation relating to physical requirements on a lot or parcel of land, including, but not limited to, size, height, location or features of, or related to, any building, structure, or improvements. For more information see § 157.228 of the Town Code.
Interior Alteration Application
For interior alterations that require a building permit for Prince William County but do not affect the use of the property nor require review or approval under Title XV (Land Usage) of the Town Code, an interior alteration approval acts as the zoning review and approval.
Submissions and Inquiries
Applications must be submitted to Town Hall, 314 Mill Street, Occoquan, VA 22125, in person or by email to townclerk@occoquanva.gov, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm.
