Pavement marking operations restarted overnight on August 7, and will continue through August 8 in order to complete marking operations overnight, weather permitting. Please remove vehicles by 8 p.m. on Monday in order to aid in marking operations.

August 5, 2022
Pavement marking operations did not occur overnight on August 4, due to weather conditions. Crews will be back on Sunday, August 7, to complete marking operations overnight. Please remove vehicles by 8 p.m. on Sunday in order to aid in marking operations.

August 4, 2022
Pavement marking operations began overnight on August 3, and will continue through August 4, weather permitting. If work is not completed on August 4, work will continue overnight on Sunday, August 7. Please do not park on-street overnight in order to allow for pavement marking operations to work throughout the historic district. Please remove vehicles by 8 p.m. No overnight work is scheduled for Friday or Saturday overnight. As a result, overnight parking will be permitted on Friday and Saturday.

Weather or other delays may cause work to extend into the week of August 7. Contractors continued milling and paving operations overnight on July 24, 2022. Contractors will continue (weather permitting) overnight on July 25, 2022, along Ellicott Street and Commerce Street. Paving operations will continue along Mill Street, Washington Street and Union Street. Please ensure your vehicles are off-street by 8 p.m.

July 22, 2022
Contractors milled Mill Street and Washington Street overnight on July 21, 2022. Milling and paving operations will resume on Sunday, July 24, 2022 and contractors expect to mill Mill Street, Union and Ellicott Street and begin paving operations on Mill Street. Milling will continue to Commerce Street and paving operations will follow behind milling operations through town. Weather may impact the schedule. Milling and paving work is expected to last through the evening of July 28, 2022. Striping operations will also commence during the week of July 24 and potentially continue through the week of July 31, 2022. No work is planned overnight on July 23 or 24.

July 21, 2022
Contractors milled Poplar Lane to the 123 Bridge overnight on July 20, 2022. Work will continue overnight on July 21, 2022 as contractors continue milling operations down Mill Street to the Washington Street intersection. The milling path they they will follow is currently as follows and subject to impacts that may cause schedule delays:
July 21, 2022: Continue up Mill Street to Washington Street intersection, and Washington Street to Commerce Street; Remainder of Mill Street and Union Street up to Commerce Street [Some parking spaces on Union Street beyond Commerce Street will be impacted by no parking due to the limits of the paving extending up Union Street – the no parking areas will be marked accordingly.]
July 24, 2022 – July 28, 2022: Remainder of Mill Street and Union Street up to Commerce Street; Ellicott Street and Commerce Street (dependent on weather)
Paving operations are expected to start overnight on Thursday, July 21, 2022 or Sunday, July 24, 2022 and follow the same milling path through July 28, 2022 and potentially into the week of July 31, 2022. July 20, 2022
Contractors will continue milling operations down Poplar Lane and Mill Street toward the Washington Street intersection on the evening of July 20, 2022. Due to an equipment failure, the contractors did not make as much progress as they had intended on the evening of July 19, 2022. The milling path that they will follow is currently as follows and subject to weather impacts:
July 20, 2022: Poplar Lane, Mill Street up to Washington Street intersection, and Washington Street to Commerce Street
July 21, 2022: Remainder of Mill Street and Union Street up to Commerce Street [Some parking spaces on Union Street beyond Commerce Street will be impacted by no parking due to the limits of the paving extending up Union Street – the no parking areas will be marked accordingly.]

This schedule is subject to shift depending on weather and other unforeseen delays. Please remove vehicles from on street parking beginning at 8 pm through 5 am, Sunday – Thursday evenings until milling, paving, and marking operations are complete.

July 19, 2022
VDOT contractors have begun milling and paving operations within the Town. Work will generally be from 9 pm to 5 am. On July 19, contractors will begin milling operations on Poplar Lane/Mill Street and will continue moving through town in this general order: Washington Street, Union Street, Commerce Street and then Ellicott Street. Portions of Commerce Street were milled during the evening of July 18, 2022. Milling and paving work is expected to occur July 18 – 21, and July 24 – 26, dependent on weather delays or other impacts. Parking will be prohibited during construction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday evening through Friday morning. No overnight work will occur Friday or Saturday evenings and parking will not be restricted on 7/22 and 7/23.

Reported Outage: On the evening of July 18, utility lines were damaged near the intersection of Commerce Street and Union Street and the Town has been notified of outages. The Town has contacted the utility companies to report the outage and to request the lines be cleared. If you are in this area and are experiencing a utility outage, please contact your provider and report the issue.

July 18, 2022
VDOT contractors will conduct milling, paving, and pavement marking operations on VDOT-owned streets within the Town of Occoquan beginning on the evening of Monday, July 18, 2022. Work will occur overnight generally between the hours of 9 pm and 5 am, Sunday through Thursday nights. Work is expected to last one to two weeks depending on weather and other factors. Overnight street parking will not be permitted while work is occurring. Please park in town parking lots or other off-street parking areas overnight. Impacted streets include Mill Street/Poplar Lane, Commerce Street, Washington Street from Commerce to Mill Streets, Union Street from Commerce to Mill Streets, and Ellicott Street. More Information

On-street parking will be allowed where available when crews are not working (during the day and on Friday and Saturday evenings). Vehicles should be removed off-street by 8 pm each night and remain off-street until 5 am. Contractors will be working the evenings of Monday, July 18 – Thursday, July 14, and Sunday, July 24 – Thursday, July 28. No overnight work will occur on Friday or Saturday evenings.
