The Town of Occoquan has contracted with Burns & McDonnell to assist the Town in updating Chapters 54 and 66 (Subdivisions and Zoning, respectively) of the Town Code.  This process comes on the heels of the completion of the 2016 update to the Town's Comprehensive Plan. The update process is intended to clean up these two sections of the code, ensure accurate references and meet State Code requirements, and align the documents with the intent of the recently revised Comprehensive Plan.


The process began in March 2017 and a community meeting to obtain initial public input was held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, and further discussed by Town Council on June 20, July 18, and August 1, 2017. Below are links to the drafts and proposed changes that have been discussed to date.  A public hearing will be held on the proposed changes to the Code on September 5, 2017, at 7:00 pm.


Once the revisions to Chapters 54 and 66 are completed, the Town will begin the process to recodify the entire Town Code, a task that has not been undertaken since 1999.  This process is expected to begin during the fall of 2017.
